On The Hot Topic Of Healthcare In America
Health care is perhaps one of the biggest topics on the minds of American's these days
. The battle is on and while the current health care system is failing to keep most citizens healthy there is a whole army of people resistant to the changes set forth by the government. No matter which side of the issue you sit on this is a topic for some major debate.
Health care in itself a term that indicates the good side of the system, it indicates the idea or promoting health. In its irony though most people don't go to the doctor for health they instead go to the doctor for an illness or a problem. This is because unless you have a really wonderful health insurance plan you really only go to the doctor when you have to.
What if the next time you were sick you waited. Waited until the symptoms got better on their own or got worse. Many Americans are playing that waiting game right now. Holding off treatment for too long because they just can't afford to go see the doctor, get the tests they need or receive treatment. Playing the waiting game puts everyone at risk and in the long run costs everyone more money.
Now while you may be sitting there and thinking why should I help pay for the health care of others in this nation? The answer is simple and that is no matter how they get that money from you, it is coming out of your pocket anyway. When Sally can't receive the treatment she needs for that illness she will eventually get too sick to withhold care any longer. Perhaps taking that bronchitis into pneumonia and increasing the cost of treating it. Since she doesn't have health care she heads to her local emergency room and they find that they need to hospitalize her. But she doesn't have health insurance or the money to pay her own bills. She goes essentially at no cost to her. Well, do you think that the hospital and doctors are going to absorb her cost of care? This cost is going to be deflected back to you for a higher cost the next time you go to the hospital. Your health insurance premiums will probably rise as a result of this and they may lessen your benefits as the prices for treatment go up.
Essentially this is the reason that all Americans should pool together for universal health care. No matter how you cut it you are paying for Sally's treatment. Now which would you rather pay for treatment of bronchitis or treatment of pneumonia? The choice is yours.
