Opaque Stockings - True Fashion Chameleons

When the words opaque stockings come to mind one often thinks of something being see-through

. This is relatively true. However it does not mean that you might see through every inch of the stockings themselves. There is a peek-a-boo of skin here and there through the sheer netting. These have a touch of class and a touch of naughty just right for almost every woman.

Opaque stockings are also called thigh highs in some places. This means that they slip on like a sock and reach all of the way to the lady's thigh. They could reach the bottom of the thigh, just above the knee. Some reach mid thigh and others cover many of the thigh up to the hip area. They come in pairs just like socks.

The majority of these elegant sock-type fashion accessories are made of nylon. Depending upon the quality of the nylon and the way it's weaved together will determine how long a pair of these will last. Top quality means that they will last longer and be harder to damage. Those bought at the local discount stores tend to be a one-time wear sort of thing. They are good to wear once and they in most cases wind up with a tear, or run, or a picked place where the nylon has caught on something sharp and the material is pulling away. If either of these happen the opaque stockings should be thrown away and replaced.

For those which are fashion conscious there is a lot of selection in terms of these kinds of accessories. The color range covers all hues on the colour chart. An almost unlimited quantity of blues, reds, pinks, purples and much more. There are plain white or black. Then there are those which are striped or decorated with bows, flowers, criss cross designs, or even zipper designs. There is not a limit except to the designers imagination. However, if the fancy ruffles are not quite what is needed then there are actually plain stockings available.

Opaque stockings could be invested in at your local discount retailer, specialty lingerie retailer, or at many stores on-line. Where you purchase them has a lot to do with what you're looking for and what you're price range is. If basic is what you would like then some place like Walmart or Target may have what you need. If you're up for more decorative items then try a lingerie store or via the internet. Stores on-line may fit the budget better because of greater competition.
