Optimize Your PC - Reduce Resources Usage
You might be one of the million people who were having a hard time of their slow operating system
. But no worries! This is a thing that can easily be resolved (even if you're not a tech), below are few tips to optimize your computer and reduce its resources. Take note that this can only be done for Windows 2000 and XP operating systems. 1. Our recycle bin default settings is fairly high, the recommended size is to set it to 3%. You can do this by right clicking on your recycle bin and go to properties, then move to the slider and apply. 2. Just like the recycle bin, our system restore is also set on high. Lower it by holding our windows key and pressing the pause button, click the system restore tab and move the slider on your desired size and click apply (recommended size is also 3%). 3. Turn your screen saver off, you can simply do this by right clicking on your desktop and go to properties, next is screen saver tab and select none in the box. 4. Hibernation is almost the same with recovering lost data, it remembers the place where we visit before we turn off our computer. The procedure requires storing the information in the memory card going to the hard disk. It may seem helpful but for me it's a waste of resources. To turn it off, go to desktop and click properties, the click on screen saver tab and look for the power button, after clicking the power button, select hibernate and uncheck the box. 5. Start up programs are those little icons on the bottom right of your taskbar, and some of them loads in the background once your operating system is starting up. What you need to do is to control your start up programs. Control your start up program through msconfig, access this by going to your start button then select run, next is to type in msconfig, this will open a system configuration utility window. Select the start up tab to see the list of your start up programs, uncheck the boxes that are not needed anymore to disable it and apply. 6. Disable your performance settings by holding down windows key and press pause key, go to the advanced tab and under the performance is the settings button. Now select custom and indicate only the last three options. Another way is going to your system properties, control panel and clicking system. These are just few ways to save the resources of your computer, there are still other things that you need to do including registry editing and
fixing DLL errors. I hope this help somehow to those who are new in the computer world.
