Brochure printing is an effective way to market your business
. Brochures give you more space than materials such as flyers to tell about the benefits you offer. On the flip side, brochures are more compact than bound booklets, which can be more appealing to readers. The standard brochure is usually printed on an 11x8.5, 100#, gloss text piece of paper, 4 color on both sides and unfolded with no special perfing or drilling. If you are ordering 250, they will cost you about $.65 a piece. But the price for brochures drops dramatically as you raise the quantity printed. For instance, 500 brochures cost around $.34 each, for 1000 - $.18 each approximately, and 5000 - $.06, all the way down to $.034 if you order 250000 brochures at one time.
Paper Weight and Finish Options
The lightest weight you should use for brochure printing is 70# text uncoated. This is the most economical and costs a few cents cheaper than the much nicer 100# glossy text. When you are ordering at least 1000 brochures, the price difference is fractions of a cent. Your other options are #80 text gloss text, 10pt Cover, Gloss 2 sides and 14 pt cover both sides.
At 250 brochures, the 10pt and 14 pt will cost 10 to 15 cents each more than a standard brochure printing. The advantages are obvious when you see the heavier paper, though. The heavier the paper, the more substantial the brochure appears, and the appearance of your brochure will directly correlate to the way customers view your business.
Coating Options
Your coating options for 10pt gloss 2 sides are usually aqueous, high gloss UV, and Dull UV or matte coating. The most basic is the aqueous; it provides an adequate amount of protection and sheen to brochures. Use the UV to really protect the coloring on your brochures and make it really shine. And of course the dull UV or matte just provides a protective coating without any sheen.
Color Options
Some brochure printing companies offer either 4 color on both sides or 4 color on the front with a blank back. You will only pay about a third less if you choose to print on only one side.
Folding Options
You can have your brochures folded at a minimal price, which is definitely worth the cost if you have a complicated fold or simply do not have the time to fold them yourself. For about 4 cents each when you buy 250 brochures, you can usually choose from four up to nine folding options, depending on the size of your paper.
Additional Options
Hole drilling and perfing can be done for a few cents a piece. Tabs can be added for about 15 cents more a piece per tab if you are ordering 250 brochures, although this can vary somewhat from company to company.
Brochure printing can be easily done by the right printer. Find out which one of these options works best for your design and budget, and you can have brochures at your door in 5 days or less, depending on your printer. When finding a printing company as well as deciding on options, weigh the quality and the cost.
