Oracle Fusion Middleware Establishes World Record Result for Dual-Node Performance
Oracle today announced that Oracle(r) Application Server 10g Release 3
, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, together with Oracle Database running on Dell PowerEdge Servers, set the world record for a dual-node configuration with the SPECjAppServer2004 industry standard benchmark.1
Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3, together with Oracle Database, achieved a world record dual-node performance result of 3,593.68 SPECJAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second). The Java Application Server was running on two Dell PowerEdge 1950 Servers; each equipped with four Quad-Core Intel(r) Xeon(r) processor E5440 running at 2.83 GHz. The database server was running on a Dell PowerEdge R900 Server with two Quad-Core Intel(r) Xeon(r) processor X7350 running at 2.93 GHz. Both the database and application server machines were running the Linux operating environment.
"With more than 50,000 customers, Oracle Fusion Middleware leads the industry in delivering the richest functionality, record-setting performance and low total cost of ownership" said Juan Loaiza, Oracle senior vice president, Systems Technology. "Organizations across the globe rely on Oracle Application Server to run their mission-critical Java-based applications with exceptional response times and scalability."
"In our drive to simplify IT, Dell is helping to take the guesswork out of deploying mission critical applications," said Judy Chavis, director software and solutions, Dell Product Group. "With unmatched benchmark performance on Dell PowerEdge servers, such as this most recent result achieved with Oracle, we continue to deliver the most powerful technology solutions that enable customers to keep their businesses moving forward as efficiently and effectively as possible."
Over the past five years, Oracle has submitted record-setting application server benchmarks on a broad range of hardware and software platforms. Oracle is the performance and price/performance leader in multiple SPECjAppServer 20012 and SPECjAppServer20023 benchmark categories and also holds the world records for best performance and price/performance in the ECperf4 benchmark of J2EE application servers reported in July 2002.
SPECjAppServer2004 is a client/server benchmark for measuring the performance of a representative J2EE application and each of the components that make up the application environment, including hardware, application server software, JVM software, database software, JDBC drivers and the system network.
