Orange Roses

Orange Roses Are a Beautiful Addition to any Garden

For many years people have thought of roses as the flowers of love. They are the flowers that one person gives to another when they are in a relationship. In the language of the colors of flowers yellow means friendship and red means love or passion. But orange roses mean something in between. They are often given at the beginning of a relationship, especially the lighter orange shades. The deeper the orange the more passionate the relationship they symbolize is.

Until the early 20th century there were no orange roses. They are a hybrid of yellow and red roses. The color has flourished until there are many roses that come in orange. They range in shades from a very pale orange that looks almost coral, to a very deep orange that looks like it just came out of a sunset.

There are many types of orange roses. Just as with other colors they come in all categories of roses. You can find them as a climbing rose that will work well on a trellis, or as a floribunda rose, which means that it blooms as a spray of roses, or on a traditional rose bush.

Here are some popular orange roses:

Orange Floorshow. This is a semi-double rose. It has a deep orange color. This rose is very disease resistant and can be planted in Zones 5-10. It stands about 2.5 feet tall, and is lightly fragrant.

Mandarin Sunblaze. This is a pale double miniature rose. It stand 16-24 inches high, and would work well in a garden or container.

Peachy Creeper. This is an excellent rose for ground cover purposes. It only stands 9-12 inches tall, but it spreads to about 5 feet. It is a very pale orange, almost peach, and is lightly fragrant. It is good for Zones 5-10 and is a continuous bloomer.

Hot Cocoa. This 4 ft. tall rose bush is very fragrant. The color is a smoky orange with brown undertones. The blooms are about 4 inches, with 30 petals per continuous bloom.

Westerland. This is a climbing rose that grows to a height of about 8 ft. quite quickly. It will work well for decoration along a fence or trellis. It is very fragrant with a ruffled double bloom.

One worry that gardeners have with orange roses is that they think that orange won't work well in their garden design. But, with so many shades of orange it is easy to find a shade of rose that will fit into any garden plan. Many colors will coordinate and complement orange, including purple.

For a way to make any garden stand out and be memorable, look at all the different types of orange roses. Finding the perfect rose will make any rose garden stand out.
