Ordering More Than One Vehicle From A Courier

When people want to order more than one vehicle from a courier

, they should always ask themselves why they think that is their best shipping solution. That isn't to say that it isn't possible, just that it is sometimes worth reviewing all the options before making that costly choice. Whether or not a Washington DC courier service will have an option for you to hire more than one vehicle will depend largely on the size of their available fleet and their current workload.

Every courier company only has a limited number of trucks available that they can put in the field at any given time. They also have many different clients. There aren't going to be many situations where they could afford to let one client hire all the trucks at once, even if that meant they were very busy for a short period of time, as it could mean losing other long term clients. This is why the available fleet size sometimes can limit the ability to hire more than one truck for a shipment.

There are times when you may want to order more than one vehicle for a courier and for good reason however. Usually, when you're hiring trucks on an FTL basis, which is to say that you're hiring the entire truck and the driver, then you will have the option to hire as many vehicles as you want. Some companies may want to do this when they have two multi stop shipments headed in opposite directions. Two vehicles may be the only way to have all the deliveries completed in the required amount of time.

If you're trying to ship with more than one vehicle when shipping LTL or under a similar model, you may have a bit more difficulty arranging for it, because you're going to be much more at the mercy of the available space with the courier company.

The basic idea is that it is always at the very least possible that you can use more than one vehicle for a shipment. Certainly be prepared that this wouldn't be allowed every single time that you request it though. There are certainly a variety of situations where the courier company may not be able to accommodate this kind of request. As always, simply present your shipping needs and first impressions to the courier company, and allow them to suggest solutions. They are excellent problem solvers, and can usually find a mutually agreeable shipping solution.
