It comes on the second number in Umoor Tabiyah and is also one of the basic and fundamental concept of Tibb. Temperament (Mizaj) indicates the properties of an atom (Unsur) a molecule, a cell, a tissue, an organ and of the organism as a whole. Each and every atom, molecule (murakkab), humour (khilt) cell, organ and body as a whole is furnished with a mizaj (equilibrium) upon which their properties, functions and life depends. In fact, it is the complete mirror of the chemical state of the human body and indicates environment & homeostasis of the body.

Temperament as defined by Avicenna (Ibn sina) is the new state of a matter with different quality from that present in the element or compounds before coming into imtizaj (intermixture or chemical combinations) which results from the action & reaction among the contrary qualities and powers present in the atoms of different elements when they are combined together.

Mizaj of the organs:

Every species created with its specific Mizaj which is beneficial and suitable for the same. This is the temperament which is known as Mizaje Mo'tadil (Tibbi mu'tadil) for it. For example, a lion has more heat (hot temperament) than other animals so that it may get more anger and may attack easily on his prey (Shikar) for diet. Similarly, a rabbit has been created with cold temperament so that it may get more fear from other animals and easily go away for saving his life. This is nothing but it is only for his benefit and requirements. Same like that different organs of the body have been provided different types of Mizaj as per their functional requirements. For example, there are some organs of Mizaje Mo'tadil e.g. skin. Some organs are of hot temperament. Some are of moist and some others are of dry and the few are of cold temperament. The organs having hot temperament are in descending order; heart, liver, meat (muscles), spleen, kidneys, arteries and vessels. The organs having cold temperament are in decreasing order like hair, bones, cartilages, ligaments, tendons, membranes, spinal cord, brain and fats.

The organs having moist temperament are in decreasing order as Samin (type of fats), Shahm , brain, breast, testes, lungs, liver, spleen, kidney, muscles. The organs having dry temperament are in descending order as hair, bones, cartilage, ligament, tendon, membranes, arteries, vessels, motor nerve, heart (meat of heart) and sensory nerves.

These organ's temperaments are known as Eitidale Tibbi for them.
