When you found yourself putting off important tasks to the last possible minute, you procrastinate to some degree. And this can be a major problem to both your personal life and your career.
Chances are you get less productive that may lead to reduced job contributions that results to less effectiveness. And at the end of the day, you get a hollow guilty feeling that would make you become restless and sleeplessness. It would then eventually lead to your destruction.
You wouldn't let that bad habit eat you up, would you? Stop procrastinating and address the problem right away!
Identifying the beginning of procrastinating practice is to admit to yourself that you are indeed doing this habit. There are many reasons why people procrastinate.
Priority- Understanding a critical situation from a less important is important in differentiating tasks.
Unknowns- Fear of the unfamiliar rejects any possibilities of knowing something.
Time - Not allotting enough of it for the things that need to be done.
Overload- Continually putting things off creates considerable stress that eventually shows up as fatigue.
Fear of Failure - Usually caused by perfectionism.
Feelings - We normally put off things that cause emotional discomfort.
Having the knowledge of what kind of habit you are doing, help with procrastination beast and foresee the impact on your life gets to the reason to resolve it once and for all.
Act after you plan. Balance the time spent in planning with the time spent on doing the task. Break the day up into a number of action sessions for other tasks.
Be vision oriented. Set your time-bounded goals. A little time and effort put in now saves a great amount of time, effort and frustration in the future.
Bite-sized pieces. Break each big step out and list it separately. You will see greater progress and relief as you check out items off your list.
Good enough is good enough. Rather than perfection, aim for advancement. Any small step toward completion is an accomplishment. Determine how much you can do and tolerate at a time.
Just do it. Alternate jobs which are unpleasant to you with tasks you enjoy. Set time limit.
Plan around interruptions. Take steps to prevent those interruptions before they occur. Do what you sensibly can to minimize it, but make sure you don't scare people away from interrupting you when they should.
Remember to make it fun. Give yourself the best tools and work space for the project. Take a few minutes to organize your work area and be sure to make the ambiance favorable for you.
Stay motivated. Reward every step along the way, not just the end result. Think whatever a reward is for you.
Dwell on success, not on failure. An advantageous aspect is that making an effort for solutions on this problem returns an exceptional personal growth. You'll become stronger, braver, more disciplined, more driven, and more focused.
