, you could be feeling slightly confused by the different forms and postage rates that youll need to use. There are all kinds of delivery methods available to you, and it all just depends on where you are sending your parcel really.

When you need to send a parcel within the European Union (EU) you wont need to fill out any tax forms, generally. This is because sending parcels to another EU country is not seen as exporting or importing the goods, it is just thought of as moving items. Any countries outside of the EU will require these forms though. They are used by the customs officials to decide whether tax needs to be paid on your parcel, as the form that is placed on the front of your package will display its weight, size and the contents of it. If your parcel does require tax it isnt you that will need to pay for it; thats up to the recipient to sort out.

Whether you are sending a parcel to a friend or family member, or you have a business and are sending goods purchased by a customer, you will always need to be sure that you arent sending any illegal items. Each country in the world has a list of restricted goods and prohibited goods. Restricted means that you can import or export them, but you will need the appropriate forms to do so. Prohibited means that under no circumstances may you send the items anywhere. Prohibited items usually consist of illegal drugs and substances, explosives and the skin or fur of an endangered animal.

You will also need to decide what type of postage to opt for. If you want fast postage you should choose airmail, which is often considered the quickest delivery available to anywhere. If possible, truck delivery is another option. If the arrival date of your parcel isnt of concern, delivery by sea can be arranged. This is also one of the cheapest methods offered, so if you dont want to spend a lot on your parcel it could be just right for you.

All of this might sound confusing, but if you book your delivery through a courier all of it can be handled for you. The courier will tell you which forms you need to fill in and will give you a choice of easy to understand deliveries, and then they will pick your parcel up on a date specified by you.
