PC Has No Sound
If your computer has no sound, it suggests that your computer has problems inside that are preventing it from running as smoothly as it needs. This problem, although qutie common, is relatively difficult to fix - especially if you're a beginner. The problems that will be preventing the sound from working on your system will include everything from the "Drivers" of your computer not running correctly, to having hardware configuration issues and even not being able to correctly read the files & settings that Windows will be using to play the sound.
What Causes Sound Problems On Windows
The main issue that prevents the sound is a lack of correct drivers on your PC - but there are a number of other issues that will be preventing your system from playing back sound, which will include the likes of:
Your computer does not have the settings it requires to run the sound
Your PC has insufficient driver capacity to ensure the smooth playback of audio
The sound settings on various pieces of software is not working correctly
Many people will be quick to tell you that there's some sort of problem with the "drivers" of your PC to inhibit the sound from playing back properly. However, I'm experienced enough to tell you that drivers are not the only cause of sound related problems on your system - and as a result, you have to be able to use the steps outlined on this site to ensure you can fix the various problems that your PC may have.
How To Fix "PC HAS NO SOUND" On Windows
1) Reinstall The Programs Causing The Errors
The first step is to make sure that you can effectively re-install any of the problems that may be causing the errors. One of the main problems is down to the fact that Windows cannot properly read the files that a particular piece of software (mainly games) will be using to process the sound, and therefore lead your system to run in "mute" mode for that particular application.
The most common problem here is that Windows will be unable to correctly process the sound options for a program, and therefore lead your PC to run much slower and with problems. To fix this, you have to be able to re-install any of the affected programs, which will basically replace any of the corrupted files.
Here's what to do:
Click "Start"
Click "Control Panel"
Locate "Uninstall A Program"
Find the program with no sound
Click "Remove" next to it
Allow the uninstaller to process
This will basically get rid of the program, and all of its files, leaving your PC able to properly process the various important settings that it requires to run.
2) Update The Sound Driver For Your PC
The next step is to update the sound driver for Windows. The sound "driver" is basically the file which Windows uses to connect itself with the hardware of your PC, and therefore the "sound" driver is a program that's used to primarily connect the speakers of Windows with the software's audio playback settings.
In order to repair any of the sound driver problems on a Windows computer, you have to first ensure that your PC has the correct sound options to begin with. This can be done by following these steps:
Click "Start"
Click "Control Panel"
Locate "Add / Remove Programs"
Find the hardware that plays back audio
Right-click the hardware and select "Update Driver"
This will update the driver for the sound device, and should therefore allow it to run much smoother. However, the problem many people have is, and this is especially true if they are using the likes of Windows 7, that they will not be able to download the latest version of the sound driver for their system. This problem can only really be fixed by either manually downloading the driver, or by using a driver update application.
Recommended - Use A Driver Update Program
The best way to fix the no sound problems that Windows may have is to use a "driver update" program to fix any of the possible problems that will be causing this issue to occur. A driver updater application is a very effective tool that will scan through your computer, identify the hardware inside, and then fix any of the sound settings that could be causing problems. This will not only allow your system to run much smoother, but should repair the "no sound" problems for good.
