PS3 Reset - How to Do It

Do you have a PS3 problem such as the yellow light of death

? Sometimes a PS3 rest can fix the PS3. But to do a PS3 reset?

1) Place the PS3 in standby mode. That's when it shows the red light.

2) Press and hold the power button on the console for 5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps

3) Turn on your PS3, if you don't experience the problem again. Most likely the PS3 reset fixed the console.

Note:This should not affect your hard drive data (game saves, videos, music, etc), it only affects the console's settings.

If the PS3 reset doesn't work then you may have a more serious problem. Try the things below:

2) Send your PS3 to Sony- This initially seems like a good idea right? The creator will fix the PS3 and they will give you a 3 month warranty on it. Well it is a good idea if your PS3 is still under warranty. For those people who are unlucky enough to have a problem with their console after their warranty has expired will have to pay $150 to Sony.

That is quite expensive; in fact it is half the cost of a new slim! Also you will have to wait 4-6 weeks to get your PS3...or get a refurbished unit instead. And if after a long wait you do get your PS3 back, you'll notice that all your saves, music and videos have disappeared. Sony wipes the hard drive clean!

3) Fix the PS3 yourself- Now you are probably screaming at the screen "But I've got no experience with electronics. How can I do this?" Well all you need to fix the PS3 yourself is a good PS3 repair guide. Many good guides cost under $50 and contain:

- Step by step instructions with pictures and videos so that you can understand what you have to do

- Some sort of support so that you can ask for help if you get stuck

- Money back guarantee so if it doesn't work you can get your money back.

If forking over half the cost of a new slim and waiting 4-6 weeks to get your console back from Sony isn't for you.
