Alligators are not the only subjects for the portraits of one man as he also works on parakeets and a champion black angus and it has been growing into a thriving not to mention highly specialized art business. As he distinctly describes, ""If anyone wants a painting of their pet flea, I'll make one provided that there's a clear snapshot of it"". Today, he limits the work he does to dogs, cats, horses, birds, one alligator, and rabbits.
As a growing boy, he found joy in arts and animals. What the artists know is that making a decent living to support a wife and kid cannot be done by simply selling fine paintings. After moving to the Bay Area, he continued his studies and aimed at a career in commercial art. He delved into fine art as a hobby in World War II after opening his display business.
It was suggested by his wife that he develop his hobby into a business after he impressed a friend and his pair of siamese cats as he made a portrait of the felines that almost ruined it by purring and rubbing against it. When he went into the pet portrait painting business the resulting finances were impressive.
He launched his most current collection at the cow palace. That prompted a shower of commissions to paint portraits of a champion rabbit, fine show horses, and even a pet parakeet whose owner fondly explained she had raised it from an egg. There was a well known recording artist not to mention television actor singer who requested for a painting of his horse. Another thing he was asked to do was make a portrait of a winning black angus. He comments that it sometimes beats painting people portraits, the subjects don't kick usually.
In a big university in Santa Clara there is a new director of the gallery and museum and in San Jose she was the former director of a big museum and she took on the job after a reverend died early last month. She is also a renowned artist who exhibited nationally and locally at the palace of the legion of honor.
There will be an exhibit at a gallery in San Francisco displaying the works of a local sculptor. It is in the exhibit where thirty of his works will be displayed and these will cover neo classical to highly abstracted forms. Apart from conducting a ballet school, he is also a writer, photographer, and a highly talented artist. The movie spectre of a rose is one which he starred in. An exhibit of more than 200 objects, books, prints, paintings, sculptures, described as one of the most remarkable private art collections in America will remain on view at another famous museum.
There is a couple from Pennsylvania whose collection covers 50 years. It is a collection of scores of other historic greats and the works of a dozen famous painters. Interestingly enough, the husband began collecting books while still a student of Harvard, and expanded it over the years purchasing many of the more valuable objects on the installment plan.
