Paladin Specs Holy, Protection, And Retribution
The Paladins come in three different builds the Holy
, the Protection and the Retribution. Each of the Paladin spec, although possessing the natural abilities of the class, is geared towards specific abilities.
{The Holy Build}
The bearers and wielders of the Holy Light, the Holy Paladins make full use of the Holy Light as given to them by the enigmatic and powerful Naaru. They are the healer side to the class and thus make good healing companions in both PvE and PvP.
Healadins, as Holy Paladins are known in WoW, are known for their efficient use of mana. Mana, you see, is where the Paladins mostly extract their powers, especially with healing. Without their specialized abilities for mana management, the Holy Paladins are good as dead. Other than this, the Holy Paladin's talent core comprise of Spiritual Focus, Healing Light, Illumination, Light's Grace, Divine Intellect, Sanctified Light, Divine Illumination, Holy Power, Beacon of the Light, Divine Favor, Holy Shock, Infusion of Light, and Judgment of the Pure. Other talents useful for the Holy Paladin include the Improved Blessing of Wisdom, Improved Lay on Hands and the Aura Mastery.
The rest of the talents may be used to go deep into the Holy build so as to make the most out of the build, but it is also not a bad idea to distribute some to the two other builds. If you do this, it is recommendable that you pick up the Divinity talent and the Divine Guardian, Divine Sacrifice, and Improved Devotion from the Protection tree. All these abilities could gear your Paladin to be excellent Holy Paladin in both PvE and PvP battles.
When playing as a PvP Holy Paladin, having a mana-efficient spec is secondary. What you need is a Paladin that can withstand massive offensive blows with its survivability.
The Holy Paladins make for excellent fighting builds as well. They are able to wield massively destructive two-handed weapons or one-handed weapons which could deal solid damage to their opponents. They can further enhance their weapons by calling on the Holy Light.
{The Protection Build}
Delving deep into the Protection Build can make an excellent Protection Paladin that has the ability to deal damage while providing tanking support for its allies in both PvE and PvP modes. The Protection Build is one of the only four classes in WoW that are equipped with excellent physical damage mitigating abilities.
For those who are creating Paladin as support to raiding teams, investing deep into the build is a must. Two of the talents that are most valuable for Protection Paladins are the Guardian's Favor and Divine Sacrifice. Improved Hammer of Justice also gives a good boost to the stunning abilities of the Protection Paladin.
{Retribution Build}
The potential high burst damage of the Retribution Paladins combined with their impressive survivability makes them capable of sending their opponents to their graveyards in short notice. They are also very valuable in mitigating damage in group PvP, making them a must-have companion in raiding parties.
The core talents of this Paladin spec that make them a good companion in both PvE and PvP are Crusade, Conviction, Vengeance, Improved Judgments, Benediction, Two-hand Weapon specialization, Divine Strength, Crusader Strike, Fanaticism, Heart of the Crusader, Sanctity of Battle and Sanctified Retribution. The Sanctified Retribution and Heart of the Crusader increase the damage output this Paladin build as well as its party's other members.
