I've used each Nikon and Canon SLRs and P&S cameras for years, however was trying to exchange my very little Canon P&S with one thing that stores larger files, has higher zoom, smart quality, easy operation, good batter life, and affordable value. i'm completely blown away by this camera. The image stabilization is phenomenal, the macro works superbly, the colour renditions are very good, and that i was delighted to find out that I might really INCREASE the optical zoom capability by reducing the image file size. What a beautiful plan.

I took movies and photos of a Penn State womens' volleyball game from nearly the highest of the stand at PSU's Rec Hall (perhaps one hundred feet from the action) and that they (team and photos) are outstanding. the films are clear and stable, whereas the photos with the sports preset (no flash, of course) are wonderful, considering the space and level of zoom i used to be using. the automated ISO setting work nice - in contrast to Nikon and Canon. we tend to tried the sunset photos last night and that they are sharp as a tack with nice color and really very little grain. Portraits are nearly as good as my SLR, and therefore the exposures are spot on. The controls are amazingly user friendly for a camera with such a lot of choices. this can be one well thought-out piece of apparatus.

The test, in my opinion, is how the images print. up to now I actually have printed 10 8x10s - half them are scenes, one quarter are portraits, and one quarter are still life (some done with zoom macro). they're outstanding. i'd don't have any hesitation framing them and submitting for judging in an art show.

The only draw back I see to the current camera is that it does not appear as if a significant camera. create it larger, heavier, and dearer and it'll still sell like hotcakes.

The FH20 is that the initial Panasonic camera I actually have ever owned, and you'll take care i'll be observing Panasonic models closely when it's time to exchange my alternative cameras.
