Parcel Delivery Companies May Place Restrictions on Some Goods

Similar to the fact that there are many items that are prohibited from being sent via parcel delivery services, there are also a number of items that some couriers impose restrictions on. We have outlined below a broad list of goods that some couriers will deem to be unsuitable for delivery. If you choose to send any of the below items then you may find that they are delayed, confiscated by customs or possibly subjected to surcharges. By sending any of these through the delivery system you are accepting responsibility for any damages and items will not be covered by any guarantee.

Animal hunting related goods such as expensive skins, ivory and furs.

Any items related to plants and flowers (seeds, cuttings, etc).

Any items that are made from fragile materials such as glass, china or ceramics.

Any item that could be classed as a weapon firearms (including replicas), knives and any historical weapons used for decorative purposes such as swords and maces.

Any unaccompanied luggage may be refused.

Goods that could perish in transit.

Insects, Larvae, Pupae etc.

Items of identification such as driving licences, passports and birth certificates.

Items that have got an extremely high value such as artwork, precious metals, diamonds etc.

Monetary items that could easily be used for fraud credit cards and cheque books

You should not send any furniture unless it is flat packed.

You will find that the majority of delivery firms will not allow anything that is potentially dangerous to its staff to be sent, the IATA release publications which list dangerous substances and anything on these lists may also be refused.

Any time that you are making a parcel delivery, unless you are 100% sure that the items you are sending will not be breaking any laws or restrictions, you should check with the courier company before packaging anything off to them. If you try to send any item that can be classed as dangerous or that is breaking any laws in the country of delivery then you may find yourself being hit with a heavy fine or even worse a jail sentence.
