Password Encryption Of Pdf Files

Computer technology has advanced over the years

. With the flow of information, computer technology has introduced various applications to manage information effectively. Portable Document Format is one such advanced computer programs. This file format has been designed to protect the contents of the document. The PDF file makes the task of the user efficient. The PDF files can be accessed and viewed easily from any system with different computer configuration. A user can even password protect the PDF file. In other words, an author exercises a complete control over the documents in PDF file format.

Password Encryption:

An author can set the security features as per his requirement. A person can protect the PDF files from viewing or editing the document by an authorized user. You can even use the security options to protect the file from printing or copying. A PDF version gives a complete control over the document.

Procedure for password protecting the PDF file:

A user requires opening the PDF file in Acrobat. Then you need to select the Document Security option from the menu provided in the PDF file. Drop down the Security Options from the list and select the Standard Security feature. You can then place a check mark against the security settings that you require. Last step is to type and save the password.

There are two types of encryption and those are 40-bit encryption and 128-bit encryption settings. It depends on the author which kind of encryption setting he wants to select. The 128-bit encryption is more powerful as compared to the 40-bit encryption. The former is harder to crack as compared to the latter one. The 128-bit encryption setting equips a user with greater ability to protect the PDF files from any kind of hampering or damaging. The 128-bit encryption setting allows the user to open the PDF file with version 5 or other latest versions. These versions are more advanced and modified as compared to the versions before the fifth one. The 40-bit encryption opens the PDF documents with previous versions that are comparatively less advanced.

The PDF format keeps the contents of the file intact and secure. It equips an author to manage information effectively and efficiently. You can convert word to PDF with PDF converter software.
