Pay Per Click 2011 The Rules and What You Should Know
Pay per click or PPC is easy to leverage, you can add campaign after campaign.
The more powerful a platform is and by platform I mean a place that you advertise. Be it Google or Facebook or Bing wherever. The more powerful they are in terms of how must traffic they control. The more you must stick to the rules and numbers. Such as what platforms ask you to provide in terms of content and setting yourself a daily budget.
In the beginning we are all novices, we start with a daily budget while we learn until we get the hang of it. You can best hedge your bets by setting up a low daily budget and seeing what works for those keywords in that market. By doing this the risk is minimalised; keep an eye on the moment within that market. When it comes to advertising all the big players look for real content on your web pages, you are directing the PPC traffic to. If you are all about hype and not so much about content stay away from Google.
Look at the website you have, will it be good for PPC or is it more geared to other forms of advertising. The reason I say this is because Google are looking at what you are doing. A website that isn't content rich or doesn't offer a valuable service wont last long on Google. So maybe start your advertising on Facebook or bing who seem to be less fussy. This way you can find out what works and what doesn't without all the pain of being slapped by Google.
Remember you need to provide value on your sites and give the platforms a reason why you are requesting the user's information.
Keywords Rule!
Every single keyword is an ad. Think about the process you under go when placing your ads in a newspaper. With PPC you place an ad and it shows up online out there, getting traffic, instantly. You don't pay unless someone clicks it. With a newspaper or magazine you pay whatever.
In PPC don't bid on key words at $1 or above the competition is too high and your ad will get lost in the heap and cost you an arm and a leg. You want to spend a little and make a lot. Platforms are very low risk. If I wanted a banner on a site it might cost $2000 but on PPC you get to try your ad for $50. The catch is that you have to play be their rules if you want to access their traffic.
4 key points of PPC
What are you are you going to be providing to their users?
Your ad must be compelling.
What or who is your audience? What do they search for, franchise business etc.
A daily budget allows you leverage, so keep it low.
These 4 points really are the start of your journey in the field of PPC there really isn't any competition out there if you do it properly. These are major powerful platforms they want to make sure that their users a getting a great experience. As I said before don't start off on Google. Sharpen your sword on other platforms like Facebook, Bing, yahoo etc.
80% of traditional businesses fail within the first 5 years. So these entrepreneurial people are always looking for something. They are always looking to spend money on information. So how do you capture them?
What would invite them to your business or product?
Maybe so free Information on business or marketing. Once you start providing quality information all the platforms open up to you. And there is not much competition because people don't know this stuff and if they do they are just ignoring it for a quick buck.
Does your splash page then need more than one pages?
It has to give the person a good understanding of what the person clicked on. So something that's looks full of hype like: headline, maybe a short video, some hype filled text then an opt in form. Isn't going to be accepted for long if at all and certainly not by Google. What they are really after is more information. I have seen PPC linked to peoples blogs but that only works if you are a pro at selling the message on a blog, usually there is too much going on, on a blog. What is generally accepted by all platforms is more information and access to a free webinar or ebook and the cutting out of all the hype and sales claims.
So an ad could read:
Start a real turnkey business
high income with full support
www.example101.com
And that should be linked to a site with the headline something like "get the top ten reasons why a turn key business is the best." Then have a short video that tells them the top ten reasons with an opt in page to find out more information.
Within time all the platforms will be assuming the Google policy of only giving quality and cutting out all the hype. That period of internet marketing is over. So go out there and provide great content. Be smart, get into the new way of thinking now and be ahead of the rest.
