Pet Potty For Apartments
Having a cat or a dog is one of those things that owners would never want to get rid of
, but find themselves regularly cursing the day they decided to buy one. The thing is, either will make a great companion and will be fun to play with, great to distress with, a friend to cuddly when youre feeling down or unwell, a reason to go outside and generally something that can turn your entire life around. At the same time however they also tear up furniture, require constant walks and attention, need babysitting or putting in kennels/catteries whenever we go away, throw food everywhere and use the carpet as a toilet.We put up with these annoyances because theyre worth it in the long, and because the good outweighs the bad just about. However with a little training and some wise purchases, not all of these inevitabilities need be inevitable. For example, training the pet well and taking them to schools or animal psychologists can make them much less likely to tear up furniture and far less attention seeking. By making certain arrangements we can also make sure theyre seen to while were on holidays and that they have someone to walk them when were too busy.
The simplest of these problems of all to fix however is the toilet problem. For those with houses with gardens its possible to house train most cats and dogs to go to the door when they need to use the bathroom, or at least to wait until theyre instructed to go. In homes that use cat flaps or the less popular dog flaps its also possible to get the animal to actually let themselves out. However for those without a garden, perhaps who live in a flat, a pet potty is the next best option. This can take many forms; a litter tray, an actual potty type device or even a patch of grass or fake grass that the animal can use. Whichever option the pet owner goes for, the animal will then be able to be trained to use this new area for their toilet trips and can use the toilet there themselves with no need for help.
This has the obvious disadvantage of needing to be emptied from time to time, and
its best to keep it in a room where it wont cause too much of a smell. Some of these systems will work fairly well to disguise the smell themselves but obviously no excrement should be left unattended for too long. It is however the only option for those without gardens, but also offers several advantages over using the garden for a toilet, even for those who do have access.
The main advantage is that pet potties mean that you dont have to let your pet out to the toilet every time they need to go. This of course means that if youre not home they can still use the toilet (and nicely sidesteps at least partly the question of looking after the animals while youre not there), but it also means they can use it when youre sleeping and its highly annoying for those of us who have pets that go in the garden to be woken up during the night because theyre having a call of nature. The lack of cat flap also means youre less likely to be burgled by a group of contortionist midgets.
