Two years ago my brothers German Shepard was diagnosed with cancer of the bone

. I was surprised to learn that a series of chemotherapy was ordered by the veterinarian as the usual practice for cancer for canines. I don't know why this surprised me, a body is a body, I just hadn't ever heard of it before. A neighbors cat got leukemia and was on IV's two times a day for over a year before she died. If she ate anything but Science Diet, which was kind of pricey, she would end up back at the doctors. We learned it was cheaper in the long run to just keep her on her speciality food than go to the vet and she was much happier.

Pets are big business in America, people realize the importance of them in their families. Keeping that extra member of the family healthy is a wise idea. A healthy dog is a happy dog. A healthy cat is a happy cat. Birds, lizards, fish, hamsters all need to be kept healthy. They need good nutritious diets and plenty of fresh air and exercise to stay feeling well, just like us.

Animals and humans get hurt, get sick and need extra help with medications and doctors at times. They get arthritis and rheumatism and somedays just plain don't feel good. Keeping a healthy diet and and exercising along with check-ups will help ensure that Fido or Fluffy will remain a member of your family for a long time.
