A skilled and trained phlebotomist will have the option to work at different health care institutions that draw blood, such as a hospital, clinic or doctor's office.

Online schools provide many programs to teach one the knowledge and skills required for this career. Drawing blood is the foremost study but other courses included will teach the person how to become a professional. For instance, a person in this career would most likely take a patient's blood pressure, update patient's records, systemize the blood samples, and work with a patient in general. By completing the required online courses, the student should be ready to perform all these tasks and obtain a successful career. Online training provides many benefits. The student can schedule the time to work on the school work around their other responsibilities.

Some may want to pursue higher levels of education than others in this field. A certificate or an associate's degree will put you in the health care field. A good time line is that the certificate may take three to six months. If you decide on an associate's degree, it may take approximately two years. To go on to obtaining a bachelor's degree allow approximately four years.

Starting with a certificate or Associates Degree, working and gaining experience will also allow you to move into other medical fields in the future.
