Summer is that time of the year when you switch from heavy and thick clothes to light and swirly ones. Gone are the months when wearing heavy and dramatic makeup is okay. When the hot months come, you have to keep your makeup light and natural. You have to consider the heat, dryness or humidity depending on where you are located, and your activities.

Before applying makeup, you should use a concealer, primer, and bronzer or tanner. Concealer hides your skin flaws and imperfections like pimples, eye bags, and dark spots. You should sue these three instead of foundation that will only look caked on when the temperature becomes too high and you started sweating.

Instead of using lipstick, you should consider wearing lip gloss or lip shiner especially if you are just going to a casual event or place. Lip gloss keeps your lips moisturized. Dry and cracked lips are a common problem in summer. Always keep a lip gloss in your pocket or purse to keep those lips soft and moist at all times.

When choosing summer makeup, always go for lighter colors. Choose lighter shades of blue, pink, orange, and purple. Do not wear makeup that is too dark. Summer is not the season to have that dramatic Goth look that is very popular these days.

As much as possible, choose waterproof makeup. For instance, you should choose waterproof mascara if you are going to the beach or to a place where you will get wet. You do not want to have black mascara running down your face. It will surley ruin your whole look.
