Plastic Surgery For Skin Blemishes
Plastic surgery includes procedures that improve and alter the appearance of a person
. The aim is to make the patient appear younger, leaner and have a fresher and smoother skin appearance, contrary to the current look. Since the skin is our primary defense against diseases and other sicknesses, it is understandable that it also bears the brunt of whatever sickness or affliction may occur on it. Among the many things that appear on it that dissatisfies people, blemishes that mar the perfect tone and texture top the list. There are different forms of blemishes, among them wrinkles, scars and dark spots.
Wrinkles
Wrinkles usually appear on a person when he or she ages. Plastic surgery options in removing the wrinkles range from operations that physically remove them to the application of lasers or sound waves to improve their appearance. Face lift procedures ultimately improve the appearance of wrinkles and sagging parts of the skin to reveal firmer and smoother skin. The procedures are usually invasive and require incisions to implement. There are other alternatives to invasive procedures, which can be done on people who do not appear to have severely wrinkled or sagging skin. The application of lasers or sound waves can basically make the skin become tighter or produce the right amount of collagen to give it a refreshed and younger look.
Scars and Dark Spots
Scarring occurs when the skin is injured through external or internal issues. Plastic surgery is deemed necessary when the scars mar the natural look and appearance of the person. They often occur after a severe attack of acne and other infections that occur on the skin. Injuries due to external factors such as wounds can also form scars when not attended to properly or if the person is prone to scarring. Severe scars may need an operation to remove them; this is especially true for raised or discolored scars that are hard and noticeable. Scars that appear as discolorations on the skin can be treated through laser resurfacing or dermabrasion. Slightly raised scars can be sanded down to be less noticeable.
Dark spots can also be removed from the dermis through plastic surgery procedures that "erase" them through laser applications, sanding and peeling. Tattoos can also be made less visible or even "erased" through these procedures. Many patients prefer these because there is little or no downtime at all and they can come in for treatment during lunch break or after office hours and go home without anything to worry about. Several sessions may be needed in order to achieve the desired results and the number of these is dependent on how severe the scarring is or how resistant the dark spots are to the treatment. The dermatologist or the doctor can actually recommend several options that go with a single procedure to hasten the process of making the scars and dark spots less noticeable. The doctor will also recommend complementing medicines and applications to help with the prevention of the return of the dark spots.
