Plate Warmers To Keep Plates Warm On The Table

Plate warmers are arguably the best thing at the dinner table since sliced bread!

There is nothing more frustrating than the awful experience of a guest's food being cool by the time it has been served.

Luckily people who find cold food at the table annoying are not in the minority, and due to some good ideas and some high quality manufacturers, the plate warmer is now a common feature in many homes and in some restaurants.

These handy tools come in many different varieties. There are plate warmers for the design elite. There are warmers that are practical rather than aesthetically pleasing. The key to finding the best warmers for your kitchen and dining room is to evaluate your needs and style, and try to find something within your budget that works well and looks good.

It seems today that the trend is to get the warmers that are similar to a heating pad. Some are cordless and some are not. Again evaluate your need. This type is very useful for many reasons one being that most of them come with a beautiful pattern to them. This makes for immaculate presentation on the dinner table. They also have evenly spaced folds in the heating pad to ensure proper heating is applied to the full plate. The average heating pad styled warmers hold around 15 plates.

Now we know there are many tricks to the trade for trying to keep your plates warm for dinner, but why does it seem that none of them work ideally? We all have tried the old idea to stick your plates in the microwave or oven, only to find that they are too hot to touch when you take them out.

One method to think of would be to purchase some specially designed corn or rice filled fabric packs and heat them in the microwave. These can be placed on plates and dishes to keep them warm, though they may not offer the same result as specifically designed plate warmers.

You will find plate warmers available that are quite heavy duty and more suited to use on restaurants, cafes or canteens. There are warming cupboards to hold large numbers of plates prior to serving, which vary in size and price. They are not the smallest feature available to use for the purpose of warming your plates and may not be ideal for use in the home.

Trivets are used by some to warm their dinnerware as well. A trivet actually is also known as a hot plate. Trivets that are more modern are made from metal, ceramic, fabric, wood, cork or silicone. They have a tri-pod like shape with three legs to support dishes on the table. There are some that are made with a place to hold a candle for keeping food warm, making them useful as plate warmers as well as for protecting surfaces from hot, heavy crockery.

No matter the size or type you need, plate warmers are well worth looking into for both catering businesses and households.
