Located just a few minutes from Malaga Airport is the large commercial district known as Plaza Mayor, which has recently expanded to include more shops and establishments.
It is not difficult to notice Plaza Mayor from the main road as it has multi-coloured buildings and a very large car park stretching across the entire complex.
You will find many of the usual Spanish high street names at Plaza Mayor such as Mango and Massimo Dutti as well as lots of smaller boutiques and one off shops. You will find everything from household accessories through to denim outlets from designer shops through to budget priced shops.
In addition to the many shops at Plaza Mayor there are also a large number of eating establishments. You will find pretty much everything to eat in Plaza Mayor including tapas, Italian, French and even Indian.
As you move across Plaza Mayor you come to the leisure section of the complex which is home to some bars and clubs and a multi-plex cinema which actually has some films in their original languages known as VO. That means that there are always some English films available to watch at Plaza Mayor.
Parking is free at this commercial centre so it is no wonder that it is a popular shopping area getting very busy on Saturdays especially.
Plaza Mayor is also ideal if you wish to head off into Malaga city centre as there is a train station at the back of the commercial centre so you can take advantage of the free parking and just jump on a train to the city centre. It only takes about twenty minutes and is much simpler than trying to find somewhere to park in Malaga.
Travelling time to Plaza Mayor from Marbella is about 45 minutes. From Club la Costa it is about 25 minutes and from Fuengirola it is about 15 minutes.
If you land at Malaga Airport from the mountain side then as you look down just before you approach the runway you will see the multi-coloured buildings of Plaza Mayor.
