Political Television By Satellite Tv Relevant In Maryland
Often television, music and movie personalities use their power and fame to try and persuade ordinary citizens to do the right thing
. Whether they believe in animal rights, recycling or any number of other humanitarian causes, celebrities all over the country try and get ordinary folks in places both near Washington DC like Maryland and far like North Dakota to get involved. One such cause, while not the most popular in terms of the celebrity bandwagon, has recently been thrust into the public eye. While not many actors or comedians choose to go in front of Congress in character, one has taken the risk in order to fight for the rights of illegal immigrants. After a recent stint working in the fields, Stephen Colbert has sworn off farm life for good.
Of course, while his performance in front of Congress was appreciated and even chuckled at by some, others, the more conservative of Congressmen and women did not find it particularly amusing. The risk taken when confronting one of the nations most powerful groups of people fully in character as a comedy show talk show host, is of course, that people will fail to take you seriously. Of course, those backing Colbert in this particular instance didnt seem to care either way. They simply want the news that their cause is in full support, in the public eye, and on the move, to reach the ears of the American public. While it hasnt been the most popular cause for celebrities to get behind directly, many have done so subtly by appearing in movies and shows that directly address the issue of illegal immigration in the United States. Thrust into the public spotlight and broadcast all over satellite TV when Arizona passed some controversial laws regarding random checks for legality status, today the immigration issue is one of the first on many peoples minds.
While as with most issues in the United States the issue of how to treat illegal immigrants is one that finds the public divided, most people can appreciate the humor of Colbert as he so eloquently said in front of Congress, Why isnt the government doing anything? It seems that with a situation such as this, the government would take some kind of a stand whether for or against the practice of hiring and employing illegal immigrants, mostly from Mexico. Although some members of Congress may criticize a comedian for getting involved in the issue, it seems that popular media is where the question of how to treat illegal immigrants and workers largely lives. Now, it is up to the government to stop treating taking care of the issue of illegal immigration as a joke, and start giving the American public more answers. Unfortunately, the inaction of the current government has set the stage for people like Stephen Colbert to take the issue into their own hands. If you are living in Maryland, no matter how you feel about illegal immigration and the employment of illegal immigrants, its possible to get more information from all sides of the issue by heading to satellite TV.
