Portland Trail Blazers Tickets - Ready To Make The Leap?

The Portland Trail Blazers had been labeled as an up-and-coming franchise for a few

years going into last season, and the Blazers made good on all that promise by reaching the playoffs in 2009. But making the playoffs won't be satisfactory for the Blazers this season and a lot of people are picking them to earn the third seed in the Western Conference by the time the regular season shakes out. While there's no doubt that Portland Trail Blazers tickets will be extremely popular among all fans of the NBA this season, the Blazer's ascension into the top tier of NBA teams is no guarantee.

In Portland it all starts with Brandon Roy. Roy is a legitimate star player and he makes this team go. He can run the point and he's a crafty scorer that is improving in his overall offensive game. He does a little bit of everything and averaged 23 points, five rebounds and five assists last season. He's developing into a leader and plays wisely beyond his years. He's the most important player on this team and much of the season rides upon his performance.

While Roy is the central perimeter threat on the Blazers, LaMarcus Aldridge is the big man that complements him. Aldridge is coming along very nicely in his development and boasts and inside-outside game that could have him destined for stardom himself. He's got range out to about 18 feet and his high release and height make him almost impossible to block. He and Roy are really starting to develop some chemistry on the court, which could lead to big things for the team. He still needs to get a bit tougher, though, and improve on his rebounding, but he's got the potential to be an All-Star.

The biggest x-factor for the Blazers' season could be Greg Oden, though. The seven-foot former number one overall pick is supposedly in the best shape of his pro career and ready to shine. Oden has the potential to be a dominant defensive center as early as this season, but he's had trouble staying out of foul trouble. This could very well be his breakout season, and if so, watch out for the Blazers.

The Blazers also acquired point guard Andre Miller this past offseason. There is talk, though, that Miller might not start because Steve Blake is a better fit playing next to the ball-dominant Roy. Miller should help this team a lot with his ability to push the ball and his veteran savvy. It might take some time for him to mesh with Roy, but it should come eventually.

The Blazers also have a fine group of young role players that should all grow this season as well. The team needs to find a way to get Jerryd Bayless more involved, possibly as a scoring spark off the bench. Martell Webster's return will help stretch the floor on offense and Travis Outlaw is really developing into a nice player. There is a lot of potential here for the Blazers, but they need to take the next step this season.
