Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic is a country located in Southeastern Europe
, in the western zone of the Iberian Peninsula, bounded north and east by Spain and south and west by the Atlantic Ocean. It is the westernmost country in continental Europe. It also includes the Azores, Madeira and Berlengas, located in the northern hemisphere Atlantic Ocean. Portugal is a member of the European Union since 1986.
