But if they get a loving owner, they can understand when to bark and when to remain quiet. They can also become obstinate if they are not trained by an experienced person. Other big problem about this breed is their housebreaking. The poms should be kept in a restricted area with placing papers on the floor. They should be trained by taking them out when they get up. Disposable pads can also be used.

Poms get used to staying in all types of places whether these are apartments or small homes. Making them walk twice during the day is enough for their exercise. They like to be with other dogs. While female poms are demanding and moody, males are friendly and accommodating with other pets. The life span of a Pomeranian is about fifteen years and have a long life span.
