In most large organizations the transactional leadership operates because it works efficiently. However, even here there is still a place for leaders to have vision and for subordinates to carry that vision through. Nevertheless, in this kind of organization the leaders are more far-removed and the system of hierarchy ensures that the workforce only report to a manager a couple of ranks higher than they are. Even within a huge organization such as the NHS in the United Kingdom, there is still a place for different styles of leadership. Since no single kind of leadership is wrong, the best leader is one who can adapt according to the situation and role they find themselves in.
