Have you ever noticed that when we feel grateful for something that a smile comes across our face. Probably not, its an involuntary reaction that we wouldnt normally even think about at the time. But it is true. That smile represents a moment of pure happiness. If we ever just took the time to celebrate more the events in our lives that leave us feeling grateful we might just learn a thing or two about ourselves and those around us. Practicing Gratitude Improves Our Lives by countless measures; want to know how?
Lets take the example of the smile referred to earlier. Have you ever had a happy thought run across your mind and you begin to smile about that thought you had? For instance, say the weather has been kind of lousy lately and then all of the sudden the sun comes out from behind the clouds. Inwardly dont you become happy (and smile) about seeing the rain disappear and now feel the warmth of the sun on your face?
You may not realize it but that is a feeling of gratefulness or gratitude for more pleasant weather. You suddenly get more motivated to do something outside in all of that wonderful sunshine. Arent you thankful? Do you see how gratitude not only improved your attitude about the day but also increased your motivation to complete a long awaited task?
Sometimes we take for granted the simple things that life has to offer. Instead of ignoring those things, why not relish in them? You have been given another day of living, make the most of it. Enjoy your surroundings and the people you have in your life. Treasure the time you spend with others and be grateful that you have the opportunity to share precious moments with them.
Your relationships will benefit when you show others how grateful you are to be a part of their lives. After all, isnt that what we as humans strive for? To feel appreciated not only for what we do but for who we are? Who knows your new found gratefulness may just become addictive.
Start practicing gratitude and see how you too will begin to see improvements in your life. What a wonderful legacy to pass on to your children knowing that by following your example they have learned a valuable life skill that will have positive effects on their future.About the Author:
