Pre-algebra is a common name for a course in middle school mathematics
. In the United States, it is generally taught between the seventh and ninth grades, although it may be necessary to take this course as early as sixth grade in order to advance to Calculus BC by twelfth grade. The objective of pre-algebra is to prepare the student for the study of algebra.

Sol : = 4 + 9
= 4 + 9
= 13
Answer : 13
Pre-algebra -Example 2: Simplify '2/15' + '2/5'
Sol : '2/15' + '2/5'
First, find the LCM:
15 : 3 X 5
5 : 5 X1
Then convert and simplify:
= '2/15' + '2/5'
= '2/15' + '2/5' X '3/3'
= '2/15' + '6/15'
= '8/15'
Answer : '8/15'
Pre-algebra - Example 3: Simplify 18 (16) 3 (5) + 2
Sol : = 18 (16) 3 (5) + 2
= 18 + 16 3 + 5 + 2
= 18 + 16 + (3) + 5 + 2
= 18 + 16 + 5 + 2 + (3)
= 41 + (3)
= 41 3
= 38
Answer : 3

Sol : = 84 + (99) + 44 (18) 43
= 84 + (99) + 44 + 18 + (43)
= 84 + 44 + 18 + (99) + (43)
= 146 + (142)
= 146 142

Solution :

x = (0.35)(80)
x = 28

Solve 6x + 2y = 28
y + 5 = 6x
Solution:
Step 1:
6x + 2y = 28 ------ > (equation 1)
y + 5 = 6x (equation 2)
To choose the equation where the coefficient of the variable is 1.
Choose equation 2 to isolate the variable y
y = 6x 5 (equation 3)
Step 2: From equation 3, we know that y-value is the same as the 6x 5
We can to substitute the variable y-values in the equation 1 with 6x 5
6x + 2 (6x 5) = 28
Step 3: Remove the brackets by using the distributive property
6x + 12x 10 = 28
Step 4: To combine the terms
18x 10 = 28
Step 5: To Isolate the variable of x
18x = 18
x = 18/18
x = 1
Step 6: Substitute x = 1 in the equation 3 to get the y-value.
y = 6(1) 5
y = 6 5 = 1
Step 7: To check the answer with the equation 2
1 + 5 = 6(1)
6 = 6
Answer: x = 1 and y = 1
