Pregnancy And Asthma - How The Symptoms Can Affect The Health Of Baby

Did you know that asthma is the most common condition that primarily affects the

lungs of women during pregnancy? About 8 percent of pregnant women are suffering from asthma and many women actually worry about how the symptoms of asthma can affect the health of their baby. However, there is no actual need to worry because with the right therapy and medication for asthma, both the expecting mother and the baby inside the womb will be safe and sound.

For a safe and successful pregnancy, women who have asthma must simply follow the medical health plan given to her by her doctor as well as take the prescribed medications. Women should not stop their asthma medication once they find out that they are pregnant because it may greatly affect the health of the baby inside the womb; the fetus may not be able to get enough oxygen.

There are many factors that could either increase or decrease the risk of asthma in pregnant women but sad to say, these factors are not very clear and concise. The reason for this is that the symptoms and triggers of asthma are relative; meaning, it is different for each person. For example, what may be a cause of allergy to one person may not necessarily be a source of allergy for someone else.

Effects Of Asthma On The Pregnancy

Pregnant women who have asthma certainly have some increased risks for complications during their pregnancy, but their condition must not be overrated or be overreacted to because there are medications that can successfully lessen or eradicate the symptoms of asthma.

Compared to pregnant women who don't have asthma, pregnant women who suffer from asthma are more likely to be at risk for the following medical conditions: high blood pressure, caesarean delivery, or a premature delivery.
