Preparation For Growing Hanging Tomatoes

Growing your tomatoes in a not so conventional way definitely means you have to give more attention to it compared to those that are grown in gardens

. Having these red fruits inside containers and having them hanged really deserves care that is more than the usual. The unconventional way of planting surely needs extra care.

It is not enough that your tomatoes are given enough sunlight, watered regularly, fertilized well and planted on fresh soil...it deserves more to grow into the plant you wanted it to become.

The first thing you need to consider is the soil in which you are to plant your tomatoes. The soil that you are to put into your containers should be fresh, fertile and should have the exact PH level required. Asking for assistance from the local nursery would be very helpful to you.

It is important that you hang your tomatoes in an area where it could receive at least seven (7) hours of direct sunlight. Sufficient sunlight is what makes your plant work healthier each day. Water your plant thoroughly each day. You should keep the soil moist at all times. Water them as needed. The soil should be wet as you touch it but the water should not be dripping on your floor. You don't want your floor to get dirty right? Besides, water is very important especially if your plants are starting to grow its fruits.

You have to fertilize your plants too. Fertilizers can be bought at the garden shops. A standard liquid 4-2-3 fertilizer would be my advise for you to use. Since it is liquid, it would be easier for the roots to absorb it.

Another thing about your plants is that since hanging tomatoes are in containers, they are easier to carry anywhere. In this case, turning your plant once in a while for it to receive sufficient warmth in all of its sides would lead to a well developed plant that is healthy in all corners.

And most especially, you have to do the pruning. Weeds and diseases are less of a problem since your plants are elevated but that doesn't mean you don't have to prune your branches. Pruning your plant would help your tomatoes grow just enough branches as well as developing fruits. Besides, you have to keep your plant handy or just right to be carried by your container. Having more branches and fruits would mean a larger plant and for sure you wouldn't want to have those plants falling into your floor just because the containers gave up.

The path towards the healthy tomatoes you want to harvest can be applied in all tomato growing conditions. Whether it be in containers or directly planted on the ground, whether it be hanged or staked, the same formula applies to all. But then, in all of these planting types, each has its own unique characteristic that makes it distinct from the others. And you need to make use of these distinctive qualities since this is the very key to attain what you want from the very start. Tomatoes can grow well in whatever condition, but if given enough care, they will definitely grow better.
