The 10g DBA certifications importance has grown tremendously over the last few years. Just like the previous DBA certifications from Oracle, this one too has three levels of certification. The first one being the OCA or the Oracle certified associate, the second is OCP or Oracle certified professional and finally the OCM or Oracle certified master. To achieve OCA, you need to clear the exam: Oracle Database 10g: Administration I which has around 75 questions to be completed in two hours. You must get at least 65 percent to get the certification. After clearing OCA you get eligible for OCP, which is considered as the most important DBA certification for Oracle DBAs. To become an OCP, you need to clear one exam Oracle Database 10g: Administration II. It is a 90 minutes exam with 70 questions and you must secure at least 66 percent to qualify.

The most advanced certification from Oracle is the Oracle certified master or OCM wherein an OCP has to two Oracle approved courses and clear a gruelling practical exam give on site at Oracle corp. The people who have 9i DBA certifications can also upgrade to 10g DBA certifications. For that they just need to give an upgrade test every time a new database version gets released by Oracle.

The 10g DBA certification exams are considered to be very rigorous and thoroughly check ones knowledge of the Oracle databases. To succeed, you must read each of the question with its possible answers very carefully, its very critical. Elimination method is recommended for those questions which youre unsure of. Also, there is no penalty for guessing here, so answer all of the questions.
