If you are having some Prius battery problems, take a look at some of the solutions that I found when I was looking for a way to fix my Prius problem. Prius problems, what are your options? Is you battery about to bite the dust? I am happy to tell you that this does not have to end your life, or your bank account. You have a few different options, and I am happy to show you what they are! Buy a replacement from Toyota for around $4,000 2001 to 2003 Prius battery problems may be the hardest to find a cheap solution for because they changed over from the Generation 1 battery styles to the Gen. 2 battery styles in 04'. This of course gives Toyota a very good excuse to charge more for the replacement batteries. (Toyota will sell you a rebuild Gen. 1 battery for around $4,000) Use a Guide To Rebuild it yourself for around $500. Your other option aside from going to the WAY over priced local Toyota dealership, is to rebuild your Gen. 1 battery yourself using a guide I found online. This is the option that I went with because it showed me how to rebuild my battery myself using a method that will give you a much longer term solution. (Using the guide to rebuild the battery yourself with new cells will cost you only around $500.) Buy a replacement that was already rebuilt off of ebay for $1,500. This is one of the options that I considered actually going with. The reason I didn't do this is because I found the guide, and decided that it was worth saving the money to do it myself. However, I also emailed some professionals online and found out that sometimes the people that rebuild these batteries do not do a very good job, and you can end up in the same situation looking for another replacement battery in a few months. But this is not a horrible option because you can still end up saving a lot of money compared to buying one from Toyota.
