According to what David Pierce said that during the test, he was playing games when watching TV, with X1 Carbon being tested for its basic performance. An hour later, he picked up X1 Carbon and wanted to have it tested for other performances; however, he found that the bottom of the machine was too hot to put it on legs for any operation. For this, David Pierce believed that accomplishing any high-loaded task on the X1 Carbon will lead to unendurable heating, with the bottom of the ultrabook being the hottest position followed by both of the palm holder and keyboard. If running some basic operations only, X1 Carbon dissipates heat fairly well. Yet, its temperature will reach the peak when running Photoshop or other large game apps.
David Pierce held the opinion that the high heating of X1 Carbon resulted from ThinkPads effort to control noise. In fact, X1 Carbon seldom emits any noise in the process of operation. Even if its temperature grows, few noises are made.
Screen
As an expensive product (near up to $1400), X1 Carbon should be installed with a good screen, like a 1080p screen to match its status. To our surprise, X1 Carbon only adopts a screen with 1600900 resolution. Whats worse, the color of the screen is rather dim after matte process.
Besides, the 14-inch ultrabook should be installed with more devices, like single graphics, but Lenovo doesnt do so. Instead, it adopts Intel integrated graphic which is laughed at by consumers due to its poor game performance. Yet, Lenovo installing many unnecessary preloaded softwares into the X1 Carbon trouble users in operation.
