Problems With U.s. Healthcare

Most people agree there are serious problem with United States health care

. These issues came to light and have become a focal point for debates after the passing of Obamacare earlier this year. The loudest critics of this new plan have organized into the tea party, and have begun a grassroots tea party movement in order to have their voices heard in Washington.

The problems truly began when politicians started suggesting that health care needed to be improved by creating a "free market" of sorts that would create competition in order to help lower the costs for care. This in turn caused others to argue that what is really needed is more regulation and price controls. Others simply argued that the American people just needed to eat better and lose some weight.

If you are left with a feeling of confusion, you are not alone. It seems like just about everyone, everywhere has a suggestion on how to reform health care. Obamacare comes very close to universal health care, and while it is not necessarily the best solution to the problem, is the one that has now been approved.

This has lead to worker health insurance becoming the center of the health care debate. One recent study found that nearly seventy percent of companies that have recently filed for bankruptcy had a health insurance program in place that was costing an average of $12,000 per employer. The study went on to conclude that nearly fifty percent of these companies were forced to file for bankruptcy due to the cost of healthcare.

This is a large problem with the United States health care system. Another major problem is that approximately every thirty seconds, someone personally declares bankruptcy because of health related expenses from an illness or injury that they could not afford. In addition to these numbers, nearly half of U.S. households have at one time paid debts relating to health care or have faced serious financial hardship because of medical bills. This burden is especially devastating for low income and middle income families, and causes a great deal of fear that an unexpected medical issue could ruin an entire family's financial security. This is a very sad state of affairs for such a powerful country.
