Acupuncture is becoming more and more popular in the western hemisphere every day. From it's origins in the far east several thousand years ago to wide ranging use in the U.K, Ireland, Europe, North America etc. many TCM therapists have watched with interest as the sick and injured masses are left increasingly unhappy by western medicine and so seek an alternative such as Acupuncture.
For this reason it is paramount that when you have finished your many years of study and clinical work and finally take that big step to set up your own private clinic you maintain a professional setting and demeanor at all times.
By this I mean:
o Dress professionally
o Behave maturely
o Always take your patient seriously
o Always have the highest respect for your patients
o Use only high quality Acupuncture Needles
o Use only high quality Herbal Medicine supplies
o Use professional, safe treatment tables - don't go cheap you'll regret it!
The list above is a small sample of what the prospective Acupuncturist must consider before setting up a clinic. Other considerations would be finding an appropriate location with a large enough population base and relatively low competition in order to ensure you have enough patients to build a practice on. In sparsely populated areas or areas which are highly competitive - a new Acupuncturist will find it very difficult to bring new business to his or her clinic.
However with the right location, clinic setup, advertising and eventually (positive) word of mouth from successfully treated patients the chances of developing your clinic into something special is definitely possible
