Promotional Price Scam By DirecTV

DirecTV, although a well-liked satellite TV provider in USA, has been in the open now. No doubt, people liked the company for all its different programming packages but due to its several malpractices that have been exposed of late, people are gradually moving away from it. Thousands of people have alleged that company follows misleading practices, which has continued over the years. The satellite TV giant has resorted to malpractices and deceived subscribers greatly by promising to offer promotional prices and channels, which it never provided. It deducted amount from debit card, without authorization, included credits when threatened to discontinue services. Some other issues with DirecTV involves early termination fee, billing issues, problems with equipment, unclear sales pitch and ambiguous advertisements. All these problems have been continuously faced by DirecTV subscribers. However, even today, the list seems to be increasing.

There has been one more incident with a subscriber, where he faced a hard time with DirecTV. He believes that had he known the truth about the company, he would have never signed up with it. The issue is similar to earlier issues with many other consumers, where they were promised something else and were finally delivered something different. It is a similar case with this customer. He says that while signing up with DirecTV, he was promised two things. First, he would receive programming packages at a promotional price, which (as we all know) is comparative less than the regular price of a pack. Second, he was assured that he could downgrade services any moment, even before the expiry of his premier pack that he had subscribed to. He was told that he could comfortably pick a lower package at a discounted price whenever he wanted.

However, everything turned out to be upside down, once he was in the contract. When he enquired the reason why he was not offered the same program that was promised while signing up, the manager of DirecTV denied him point blank. After spending an hour of on the phone, he was told that nothing could be done for this, which completely disappointed him. He had never thought that this would be the outcome. Moreover, when he wanted to switch to a lower package, it was also not allowed! He was pissed off! At last, a billing specialist told him that he will have to wait until the expiry of his current programs and only then will he be able to know whether he could select a lower pack or not.

Certainly, this incident proves that DirecTV can go to any limits to cheat on its subscribers. Even after promising a consumer, the company doesn't provide him the same. This really offends subscribers. In this case even, the subscriber wanted to bring this issue in front of the general public. He is so much troubled that he is of the view that he will never recommend DirecTV to any person in his life! Truly, any goof up or scam is not expected of a satellite giant like DirecTV.
