Protect Your Heart from Diseases: Here Are the Ways
Protect Your Heart from Diseases: Here Are the Ways
Cardiovascular diseases or disorders of the heart still remain to be the leading causes of death of people in the United States. Many suffer from heart attacks, strokes, and hypertensions.
However, there are several ways on how to increase your chances of getting your heart protected from these diseases:
1. Don't smoke. If you're already smoking, make sure that you can already start quitting now. Smoking can increase the level of toxins in the blood. The toxins can build up along the arteries and blood vessels. They can clog the passageway, forcing the heart to pump a lot harder just to deliver the right amount of blood to different parts of the body. This may strain the heart, and before you know it, you're already suffering from a heart attack.
Smoking can also damage your lungs, which are important parts of the respiratory system. Smoking can definitely kill. It is one of the leading causes of certain cancers too such as of the throat and lung. You are also prone to asthma and more serious respiratory illnesses such as emphysema.
2. Watch out on the food you're eating. There's a good reason why you're discouraged to eat a lot of red meat and carbohydrates when you want to prevent heart diseases. They are sources of saturated fats and sugar, which can raise the level of bad cholesterol in the blood. Bad cholesterol works like the toxins of smoking. It creates plaque on the walls of the blood vessels and arteries and narrows the pathways.
3. Take omega-3 fatty acids. A lot of studies have already confirmed that omega-3 fatty acids are good for the heart. In fact, they are highly recommended by the American Heart Association. Omega-3 fatty acids can increase the level of good cholesterol, which works opposite to the bad cholesterol. It strips off the plaque by "melting" it, so you can increase the passageway of the blood.
4. Take care of your emotional health. Your emotions can have some effect on your heart too. Haven't you noticed? When you get angry over something, your heart tends to raise a lot faster. You will also feel as if you're finding it more difficult to breathe.
When you feel bad emotions rising up, you can meditate to help your muscles relax. You can also recite some subliminal messages to further calm you down. The subliminal messages can include the following:
I am releasing all the anger and guilt.
I say no to build-up anger.
I am opening myself to forgiveness.
You can repeat these subliminal messages as often as you can until you can accept them as truths. The subliminal messages can open your heart to forgiveness and release of negative emotions.
5. Exercise. Exercising can lower your cholesterol by getting rid of the saturated fats in the body. It also adds strength into your heart. You don't have to spend hours on a treadmill. You can begin by walking around the neighborhood at least for 15 to 30 minutes. You can just increase your power and speed over time.
