The term puberty (derived from the Latin word puberatum (age of maturity, manhood)) refers to the bodily changes of sexual maturation rather than the psychosocial and cultural aspects of adolescent development

Puberty is the period of the time when children begin to mature biologically, physically, socially and cognitively girls starts to grow into women and boys into men, begins between the ages of sixteen. Puberty starts when further amounts of chemicals called hormones start to be produced in the body. These hormones show the changes that take place in the body. Thats why causing physical changes these hormones also cause emotional changes. It takes approximately 3 to 5 years to complete this stage of growth. Onset of puberty is consistently 2 years early in girls then in boys. Girls reach full height about 2 years earlier then boys. Earlier sexual maturation of female is one reason, why males are about 10 percent taller as adult by virtue of maturing later. Males have more time to continue growing. PHYSICAL CHANGES

Moods shift quickly and unpredictably. Small matter in common for both boys and girls and is not some thing to be ashamed of. It helps young people to share their concern with parents and friends often; they find comfort in discovering that other share similar concern and feelings. Increased feelings of independence are a part of the normal development in adolescence. Adolescents, experience frequent shifts of behavior from mature childish behavior.
