Radio Technology All Around!

My house is fully equipped with a two way communicationin other words a two way radio

. Now it is surely a question to ask how that is possible. Well it certainly is. Two way radio communications is not limited to walkie talkies alone. It is an extension of the radio technology into many aspects. For instance due to advancement in technology, now we also have the two way radio microphones, unlike the hefty walkie talkies, they are more portable and convenient to carry and one can multi task with these. But again, old habits die hard; we also have the digital two way radios which send across text messages. There are others which send a numeric message or beeps for pagers, but of course these are for high end truncated messaging services, coded messaging services etc. These days, these two way communicators also have the high end capability of transferring data as found in the Internet Protocol (IP). Many of these two way radios come with the popular ham batteries which are specialist batteries for two way radios.

Also, two way communication is not limited to just thisthere are lot many dimensions to it. We have definitely heard of the AM and FM Radio technologies, that is, the Amplitude Modulation and Frequency Modulation.Channels are assigned to the popular radio stations, but for personal use, people usually use frequency numbers instead of channels. There is a memory in these devices which tracks down your frequently used frequency. For personal use a UHF or Ultra High Frequency if sufficient because it has a shorter wavelength and is more appropriately used for a single building etc. the VHF or Very High Frequency is used for extensive reach requirements.

And if you thought that the two way radio communication is always portable, think again. It is a technology, not a patent for portability. Another very interesting use of two way radio communication is the wireless callbox. Now do you recall communication with the security guard outside your building or apartment or bungalow with the help of the phone device? Well, you guessed it right; this is an example of a two way communication radio. It uses the same technology, precisely. And if you recall a customer calling the store helpers from a phone box, yes, thats the same technology again.

And not to forget, the phone we use is also a two way communication process, radio rather. And the famous mobile phone company Motorola was first into radio technologies, and later it came up with the interesting cellular devices.

So, who says we are not surrounded by radios? Look around yourself and get connected with ham batteries.
