Day 2: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today visited Dhondwada village here

to pay respects to former Madhya Pradesh minister and district Congress President Ashok Sable, who passed away yesterday. After returning from Dhondwada, Rahul addressed around 1,000 youth Congress workers from four parliamentary constituencies of Betul, Khandwa, Hoshangabad and Chhindwara at the Lal Bahadur Stadium. The stadium dais adorned the picture of the 61-year-old leader who passed away here after suffering a massive heart attack. Rahul said Sable had been a minister twice but lived a life of total simplicity as was evident from his house in Dhondwada. "A man should not be known by his big house, big car or a big watch," Rahul said the days when people were appointed in Youth Congress on the recommendations of senior party leaders were over. "Now only those people who work would get posts in Youth Congress," he added.

He further added that they need to be honest while carrying out their responsibilities.

" The hard working candidate would get posts in Youth Congress," Gandhi said while addressing gathering of Youth Congress in Betul District of Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi said flattery can have no place in the party and its youth wing. "Those who believe in flattery should leave Congress or Youth Congress and join BJP," he said at a meeting here. He said the days of using friends or relatives to make progress in the Congress were also over."I have put an end to flattery in some states," Rahul said, adding that this will happen soon in Madhya Pradesh also. The Congress general secretary said that if tribals wanted to ensure their development, they must bring forward good leadership. Rahul suggested them to emulate tribals in Orissa who worked for their rights.

Yesterday Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi broke through his security cordon near Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh to talk to children. It is reported that the Congress General Secretary spoke to the kids about education and the ongoing Commonwealth Games.

At Tikamgarh, Rahul Gandhi told gathered party workers that if BJP government in Madhya Pradesh was to be changed then Youth Congress workers "must end infighting and work among the people".

"Youth Congress workers must work among the people as per the party's ideology and not be reduced to a mere follower of some leader or the other," he said while addressing party workers from Damoh, Chhattarpur and Tikamgarh.

Earlier, addressing a training camp of Youth Congress in Sheopur, Rahul Gandhi on Monday called upon the youth to enter politics and expressed hope that a day would come when young leadership would be at the forefront in Madhya Pradesh.

Gandhi said the party is encouraging youth and pointed out that the Manmohan Singh government has got a number of young ministers in it. Referring to the membership drive conducted by the youth wing of the party, he said that it was a big success in Tamil Nadu with the organisation enrolling 16,000 members where the Congress had been reduced to almost nothing.

Taking a dig at the BJP, Rahul said that instead of supporting the Congress in its developmental schemes, the party is becoming an obstruction and issuing senseless statements.
