Ramas Nama Story Of Ramayana
Welcoming myself to the blog where I had left about an year ago
, nothing to pretend that I was busy. I had began writing the book of Rama and I was lazy otherwise!The west would ask Who Rama and the east would say What about Rama. In Ramas case, there is a huge divide on East & West.
Either ways, both are pretty much in the same state of mind, if that question is asked, from a cultural and ethical perspective.Is the tale so gripping? The story of Rama as such is a very plain one when one looks at it from an eagles eye. Yet such a story having survived for several thousands of years, must have something to it if you are authorized to think beyond the obvious.
Even since the days of Amar Chitra Katha (A toon comic series), Rama was not the best of stories to me, as a kid. There was the other more super cool avatars and magic and heroics.Yet after some years I wondered, how is it so sentimental that from cradle to grave, Indian hindus mention that name while entering or exiting.So, one fine day, I began my study from how the word Rama impacted people and their lives.
There are misconceptions to the reasons of why Rama is Rama If one says, Rama preached one man one woman, theory, I dont think that is right, several legendary heros such as Arjuna have had many wives etc.What then does Rama preach or does he preach ? Why is his story alone immortal? Is he God or is he human? Well there are not many conclusive outcomes to these queries. But what one can wonder is, Ramas story is very closely tied up to the evolutionary times. One who brought about proper way of life, as per codes of righteousness in the dark times.
As a beacon of light, his name just beamed bigger. A sympathy is always on him, being a favorite child and taught by the greats, marrying the best of women only to be exiled by a mother who loved him so very dear until before the fateful day of banishing him.
All quite dramatic, to add to the story line, comes ape like humans and bears who take on a super human villan king being with ultimate control of forces. A typical david vs goliath story.The story gets interesting as the lady love, whom he so passionately fights to get back, is banished and dies later.
So what big deal, the story is nearly same as Troy or Lord of Rings ? Right, the only big difference is, Rama was real and so was his times. Rama showed the world that born a human, one can elevate themselves to the status of God. How duty and conduct shape a man midst of any painful situation. Rama shows us we as humans are survivors and most importantly, he shows us what is humanity! AThat is one reason why, apart from being given the status of God, he is also considered an avatar.And being the 1st major story of the new earth, it was the father of all stories born east or west!
I believe, Rama is needed for the world of today, which races ahead in the need to want money in short times, not to say using people and resources as they need. This world of self centered and selfish morals has come a long way from what was prescribed as best practices by the true King who walked this land. We all have a villan in us, looking to take as trophy what does not belong to us. We only need to see how the story enacts in our own lives.May be, it is time for him to return again and talk his tale as how he wants us to see. I know that I am nothing, but a pen, in this immortal story.
