Rapid Fat Loss - Resistance Training And Your Metabolism

I am certain that you have heard that in order to speed up your metabolism and burn fat

, you need to spend at least thirty minutes on a treadmill or elliptical machine three to five times per week. This article discusses a better way for rapid fat loss through resistance training and your metabolism.

There is nothing wrong with aerobic exercise but if you are counting on this to burn fast fast, you will not get the results that you desire. You have probably been told that when you get your heart rate at a certain target rate and remain there for at least thirty minutes, several times a week you shall lose more calories a day and burn fat.

You will burn calories per day but you shall not have the complete physical transformation that you desire and work so hard for on that treadmill or elliptical machine.

The reasons that this does not work to the extent that you would like and is sometimes counter productive is as follows;

1. A long duration and lower intensity aerobic workout requires you to have lots of energy and so your body looks to your stored body fat reserves to supply this energy. Our bodies do not respond well to the depletion of resources and usually kick into starvation mode. This means that you will cause you body to store more body fat after your workout is finished to have ready for your next workout.

2. The second reason is that when this exercise is performed frequently, it trains your cardiovascular system to become more efficient. This sounds well and good, however this type of low intensity workouts will cause your heart and lungs to reduce their capacity for great work as they are getting more efficient since they are doing easy work.

Long duration, low intensity aerobic workouts reduces your cardiovascular system's ability to handle stress since there is no challenge to the system which can lead to a higher chance of having a heart attack because the system is not being challenged to go beyond what it is capable of.

For fast weight loss and a proper functioning body, you need to challenge the body to go beyond what it is currently capable of. Make the body do what it does not think it can do. By doing this you shall have faster weight loss and a healthier, stronger body which is what we all want at the end of the day from our workouts.

How to challenge your body;

The most efficient and the fastest way to boost your metabolism, experience rapid weight and fat loss as well as experience lifelong health and fitness is to build lean muscle. Your metabolic rate is the rate that you burn calories per day.

A slow metabolism burns less calories while a fast metabolism burn more calories per day. Part of the metabolism is affected by genetics which cannot be changed, however, one little known secret to changing and increasing your metabolism is to build lean muscle.

If you want your body to change in the quickest time and for longer lasting results, add resistance training to your workout regimen and you will see your body change in a dramatic way and turn it into a fat burning machine.

Lean muscle has greater requirements for the calories that you ingest to feed the new muscle thereby resulting in more calories being burned per day than if you did not have lean muscle.

Proper resistance training will lead to the creation of lean muscle that will need to be repaired and to grow after each workout.. This means that stored fat used for energy will be required by the muscle after a workout which means that you continue burning fat and calories several hours after a workout when you are sitting around recuperating.

Resistance training increases your cardiovascular system's capacity for work which is important to maintain your health and fight off diseases because an intense demand is being placed on the body through resistance or strength training.

It is easy to incorporate resistance training to your current workout because of its efficiency in order to maintain your health while burning fat fast and boosting your metabolism.
