The internet is all around us and many people are taking it to the bank on a growing basis. Because of ubiquity of the internet and their ostentatious income stemming from the internet, many people begin their internet marketing careers with the idea that they will shop for a Mercedes next month. That is rarely the case. You need to keep your goals reasonable and be able to move forward during the dark, early days.

People can make a lot of money online from the internet. The internet is the source for many riches, and riches of younger and younger people, but you need to know that it is real work. There is no magical formula that will make you a millionaire with working only a couple of hours during only a few days of the week. You need to treat an internet marketing business like a real job.

At the beginning of your campaigns, setting a realistic goal for your internet marketing business could be something as simple as receiving more traffic each day. It may not be much, but traffic is the first key to success after getting your website launched: You must get people to visit your website! I remember how excited I was when I first started getting real people to visit my website: success!

After you are gaining some traffic, or have made a sale or two, you may realistically set your goal to a dollar amount per day or week. You have traffic coming to your site (perhaps even an email marketing campaign running!), and are making sales. You want to keep that up, so you continue to up your ante. Perhaps after a month of launching your site online, you want $50 per day. A month or two later, you want it to be $100 per day - something to keep you working ahead, but not too high that you cannot make it.

The worst thing for an affiliate marketer is to start the business without any idea of how they need to work. It is not difficult work to be done, but it is still work. Whether you want a goal of $100 per week or $1,000, you will need to do the work to make it happen. It can happen, but you need to set you goals realistically. Having $10,000 weeks during your first month would be optimal, but if everyone could do it, everyone would. I believe everyone can achieve that level of success, but not everyone will put the work forward to make it happen. Set your goals high, but know about realistic goal setting for internet marketing.
