I've told people that they shouldn't just rely on affiliate marketing

. The reason for that is that you aren't really building assets for your online business, unless you are lead capturing.

I also like the multiple streams of income, from different strategies. The reason why is because changes, whether they be foreseen or unforeseen can happen. These changes are not always positive.

With that being said, there are a lot of reasons to be an affiliate. One of the big problems that people have when they try to make money online is that they either don't have anything to sell or they don't know what to sell.

You can always create things to sell online, but people don't always know what will sell and what won't. Another problem that people have is that they get distracted and they either never get around to creating the product or products to sell or they just don't complete the process. Another problem that people have is that they can't write sales copy that converts or they don't have the money to hire a professional copy writer.


Being an affiliate can solve all of those problems. Make no mistake about it, you have to do it the right way, but it can solve all of those problems. You can't promote terrible products or non-converting sales pages or spend too much on promotion.

Being an affiliate is probably the quickest and possibly the cheapest way to make money online. You don't lead a mailing list, you don't need a web site, you don't even need any money to get started. You can write articles and have affiliate links in the resource box or you can set up a free blog and have your affiliate links on your blog.

All of those things are pluses, of course. You don't start out with them, but you can certainly start building them up and they are an on-going process. You can build your mailing lists, while being an affiliate. You can turn around and invest the money that you made through affiliate marketing to invest in domain names, web hosting and an auto-responder service.

If you're using pay-per click advertising to promote products or services, you can take a portion of your earnings and re-invest it in more keywords or pricing your keywords higher, in order to, get more traffic. It is a very simple equation. You spend money to make money, then you take that money and keep re-investing it in your advertising costs.
