The fact is that people need attention, be it positive or negative. When you don't call or text message anymore means that you have created a void in their life. People can not deal with silence during a hard time like break ups. They need a sense of closure or they just want to know whats going on right now. They themselves develop a curious feeling and wonder about the other person, and this in turn will make them want to have you back in the worst way.

Keep in mind, you cannot allow yourself to become victim to this theory. In attempting to get your ex back, it can become very difficult for yourself and you will come to the realization that healing hearts do not mend easily. Once you acknowledge the reasons to break up, it will put you in the drivers seat with dealing with a break up.

Trying the dating scene at this time can be harmful to the recovery of your relationship. Discreet relationships during a break up will only cause more heartache, especially to the rebound relationship, who most likely does not know that you still have an interest with your ex, although you tell her you are through with her.
