Rebranded Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan Opens To Tourists

The historic Old Cataract Hotel in Egypt has undergone major refurbishment works

and has now reopened as the rebranded Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan.

Travellers taking Egypt holidays in Aswan will now be able to enjoy the luxurious accommodation and facilities at the newly-opened property that is situated in the Nubian Desert on the banks of the River Nile.

The Victorian property was built in 1899 and is one of the areas oldest Egypt hotels. Over the decades many prestigious visitors have taken holidays to Egypt at the hotel including Sir Winston Churchill, The Aga Khan, Lady Diana, King Farouk, the author Agatha Christie, and the former French president, Franois Mittrand.

The hotel has been redesigned by French interior designer, Sybille de Margerie and integrates a blend of Victorian, Middle Eastern and French style and design into the original antique features.

During Egypt holidays at the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan, guests can enjoy luxurious accommodation in The Nile, a brand new wing that has been added to the exclusive hotel. The wing boasts 62 rooms and 37 suites that feature modern design, elegant furnishings and breathtaking views overlooking the sparkling River Nile. The rooms have chandeliers, artistic pieces, modern amenities and luxurious marble bathrooms.

The hotel offers a selection of restaurants for guests and fussy eaters taking holidays in Egypt; including the 1902 Fine Dining Restaurant with its Qualawun Mausoleum, 75-feet dome and array of international dishes; the Al Saraya with its brasserie-style dining and indoor and outdoor seating; the Oriental Kebabgy Restaurant that offers Mediterranean cuisine and a terrace with beautiful views of the river; and the Palms pool restaurant where guest can relax with a cocktail or light snack. There are several bars where guests can enjoy a drink before or after dinner, including the Promenade, La Terrasse, The Bar, and the Vitamin Bar & Lounge.

The hotels So Spa offers a wide range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments in eight treatment rooms; indoor and outdoor swimming pools; a Jacuzzi; a hammam with three rooms; a tanning salon; and a modern fitness centre.
